Introducing   Believe- Our Artist's Statement

Grant, Marta, and Patrick (all from Rosin the Bow) formed Believe so we could play bluegrass and rock from the blues side.  Grant plays banjo and electric bass, Patrick plays guitar and mandolin, and Marta plays the electro-fiddle (ecletic electric violin).  We share vocals with an emphasis on harmonies.   Our repertoire includes modern songs our audience may recognize, yet with our distinctive sound.  We rock out with Dylan's "You Gotta Serve Somebody" and move into classic bluegrass with "Dancin' with Angels".  With inspiration from Bela Fleck- here comes Grant with a banjo extravaganza version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".  The audience can sing along on "the Weight", and Marta electro-fiddles it hot with "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", adding an original arrangement of "Devils' Dream" to the devil's fiddle tune.

Patrick Cherry has been involved in the local Denver, CO acoustic music scene since 2002. He has performed in several local festivals including the “Conifair” Music Festival held annually in the mountains west of Denver.  Until recently, Patrick hosted the Swallow Hill Music Association’s weekly Bluegrass Jam… “After running the jam for several years, I felt that they needed some new energy…I’m also branching out into several other musical styles, including reggae and acoustic blues.”

Grant and Marta Day have been performing on the East Coast for the last twenty years.  They formed Rosin the Bow and they hosted the cable TV show "Rosin the Bow" for two seasons.  Marta and Grant played with the jam band "the Moonshiners" and played with Roger Sprung and Hal Wylie at the Galax Virginia Olde Tyme Fiddlers Convention for six years.  In 2007 and 2008, Grant and Marta played in the Muddy Bottom River Stompers with Pete Seeger.  "I'm really enjoying the electro-fiddle," says Marta, "It's great to get a different sound out of fiddle, the electric really can wail like a guitar."  "I love getting back into the bass guitar," adds Grant, "It's totally different than banjo."
